The Machine and Automation Designs for Sweetheart Plastics, Inc in Wilmington Massachusetts began as a short term three to six month assignment for Drafting Support responsibilities but soon grew to New Product Design Support for almost three years.

Sweetheart Plastics, Inc had been producing food containers and custom enclosures as a leading American Manufacture in their food support industry utilizing a small team of very talented product and tooling design engineers and the occasional outside contractor. Once Richard Heart, Engineering Manager, came to fully realize David DeVeau owner and founder of DEVCO Design & Development, Corp. had proficient Design and Support abilities, Richard expanded David's contract and responsibilities to include leading support and design for streamlining manufacturing and adding simplified automation to include working for their Guild Machine Division that built custom food filling machinery for the Sweetheart containers such as with juices and yogurts.

David has said that this was a great experience and although Sweetheart Plastics has changed to Sweetheart Cup and since gone to a more conventional standard line of containers and dispensing machines, this opportunity was an invaluable education in custom machine, automation and tooling design as well in many levels of manufacturing support.
