DEVCO Design and Development has always prompted our clients to keep their products' design and development with-in the United States in order to help support our own economy but also for security reasons and in light of recent events, terrorism and recession, there is no better time to do so.

However we will be the first to admit that there are some things we just can't compete in, such as a product that was designed with a very high labor requirement. Our country has a minimum wage and many safe guards to protect our labor force and ultimately it all adds to the cost of the end product.

Fortunately we have over 75 years of product design and development experience between DEVCO and our Principle Development Group Members and as all of our clients will contest, most of the time when you get us involved early enough in the engineering phase we can help to streamline your design so we can compete and you can maintain complete security and will ultimately be able to say your product is "Made In The USA."

To Micrologic and some good people because they went over seas to a third world country for a slightly lower manufacturing cost, about eight years ago, even though we tried to warn them from doing so.

It's sad not just because we lost a client and because about 100 more Americans would be out of their jobs but also because a nice little company that had a good piece of the market, would never be the same.

First Micrologic, Inc became Micrologic Navigation then they became Micrologic / Vikay America then just plain Vikay. There is no more Micrologic as of May 1999 they went out of business.

Their initial products became degraded in quality and appearance from poor design practices, shabby tooling and lower skilled labor. Then they never even came at all, forcing them to cancel orders. Lastly they had to end their product service and support departments and close their doors forever.

Now Vikay and or who ever they are now, owns the products, tooling and technology completely from over seas and gets into a good size global market for pennies on the dollar. Plus unfortunately they are not supporting any pre-Vikay, Micrologic products and we recommend that you should call your local marine dealerships for information about service centers in the USA and Canada.

We have already seen some obvious re-implementations of the innovative designs that helped Micrologic to become the successful company it was for the decade when David of DEVCO did all their product design and development but the circuitry and programming from 1983 to 1994 and you can see some examples in references.

This Article is not meant to imply that we will not work for over seas companies. We will not however contribute to countries that do not have fair and humane labor laws and also for security reasons we do not go outside the United States for any quotes or for any type of product design or development services.

First some of the search engines are still listing our Catalog Pages of Our Exclusive Generic Enclosures and we apologize for any inconveniences that it is causing but we are No Longer Directly Selling Plastic Molded Or Sheet Metal Fabricated Generic Electronic Product Enclosures.

All of our molded enclosures were more specific in nature than generic anyway, as you may have seen. The enclosures that did sell in any numbers were to an exclusive clientele and their orders have continued to be filled in a normal production manner. In fact some are now being handled via a contract guaranteeing their delivery on an exclusive basis.

We have also discontinued our direct offer for Generic Sheet Metal Enclosures but will still offer the related styles along with our other custom designs as to best suit your product's requirements.

Also due to the basic reasons stated below, we will no longer be hosting direct links to our generic enclosure resources but we will still continue to recommend their products when applicable to your product design.

Both of these types of generic enclosures will be handled as part of our design related services so as to not tie up our valuable resources replying to general inquires and indirect quote requests for OEM products.
