The Hang It Flash Light Cover started as a unique product idea for David's Industrial Product Design Course thesis but after taking it full circle he discovered that it could also be a viable product.

When David DeVeau of DEVCO Design & Development was first instructed to pick an idea for this school course's final assignment, he choose one that he made himself years before for his own use.

From Necessity Comes Invention and from a need to hang his mini-light to the handle bar of an antique motorcycle whenever a break down occurred at night, this Simplified Solution presented itself. After fine tuning the rivet assembly of the two pieces to a more economical stitching process for manufacturing, obtaining price estimates for various quantities and getting a small run of 150 display cards printed, he gave them all out as samples to local hardware stores and other small business and allowed them to keep the money from the sales in exchange for the follow-up research that revealed they had all but two been sold within the first month. It was also quite a reward that almost twenty percent of the customers also took the time to fill out the questionnaire on the back of the display card and had some nice comments after using it for a wide assortment of their own lighting needs. And by the way David received an honorable mention for this project and the instructor used this as an example in his classes.
