This Senior Design Drafting contract for ALSTOM Power, Inc in Windsor Connecticut began as a six month assignment for Drafting Support but responsibilities soon grew to Lead Mechanical Design Drafter in their Global Refractory Group for over three years now.

ALSTOM Power, Inc a French owned business, is a leader in the design and building of Power Generation Plants producing Electricity around the Globe and once it's newly established department for Global Refractory Operations was put in charge of all Lining Designs and Erection Support they needed to add design drafters to their staff to help their new mechanical engineering department get started. Once Nolan Heard, GRO Engineering Manager, hired David DeVeau owner and founder of DEVCO Design & Development, Corp. and fully realized his Design and Support abilities, Nolan knew he did not need any more drafters but also expanded David's contract to full time employment and responsibilities to include leading GRO Design Engineering and of course Drafting. Over these recent years David has designed two new products so far and made several design improvements of existing components that have not only reduced manufacturing costs but have also increased reliability and reduced maintenance. David has also initiated a Design Improvement Initiative in his own department that has since grown and been incorporated throughout every division of ALSTOM in the United States, Germany and France to standardize designs and reduce manufacturing costs.

David has made the comment that this full time position rates right up their with some of his greatest experiences and although his own business has taken on a low priority again, ALSTOM has offered many opportunities to gain additional versatility to his knowledge and is becoming an invaluable education in custom product design of some of the world's largest machines ever built by man.
